Electric Appliance Recycling Technology Research Institute is comprised of Recycling System Center, Electric Appliance Recycling Technology Center, and Material Analysis Center. Its predecessor is Household Appliance Recycling Center, which was established in 1998 as the first of its kind in China to undertake policy, technology and standard researches on recycling waste household appliances. With great importance and influence in the industry, the institute has undertaken many household recycling technology programs under Chinese National Programs for High Technology Research and Development (863 Programs), National Support Programs of Science and Technology, and National Soft Science Programs, providing technical support on the formulation of national legislation, supplementary policy and related standards on recycling waste electric appliances and help Chinese HEA export meeting EU requirements on environmental protection.

Recycling System Center: the Center has two subordinates, China WEEE Recycling Union and C&E Recycling Portal, and dedicates itself helping HEA enterprises to fulfill their social obligations. Its business range covers Chinese and EU WEEE and RoHS Directives, and the one-stop solutions on EU environmental laws on EUP and Packaging. Its all-around high quality service of low costs has gained itself wide recognition and extensive trust.

Electric Appliance Recycling Technology Center: it provides technical support on the formulation of national legislation, supplementary policies and related standards on recycling waste electric apparatus; focuses on researches on hot issues of HEA recycling economy and provides policy suggestions to government and industrial administrations; conducts international exchanges and cooperation; and stresses on researching and promoting waste electric appliancees recovery and treatment technologies and equipment that fit into Chinese realities. Among them, its recovery and treatment technology for CRT TV sets and computer displays has realized industrialized production.

Material Analysis Center: in 2005, the Center passed CNAS authentication and in 2006 became one of the first signed laboratories of CQC. It is also an inspection organization with third party notarization qualification. Its recent cooperation is with NEMKO, an European CA agency with international recognition and the Center becomes NEMKO’s authorized inspection laboratory, enabling its qualification on issuing NEMKO-RoHS reports and certificates according to clients’ needs.
